Android And iOS Still Top Dogs In The U.S

Smartphone market share talk again, hooray! Today, Comscore let be known who is leading with the highest Smartphone market in the U.S, and those who are losing ground. As you would expect, Android and iOS are top dogs, while the others are laid back trying to catch up to the leaders.
At the top of the pack, we have Android sitting like boss with 41.8% share, a 5.4% change since April 2011. Next, Apple iOS is playing it easy with a cool 27%, a meager 1% change since April 2011, and that rounds off the top two, so let us get down to the underdogs, the ones expected to fail without mercy.

In the third spot, RIM is not sitting with ease, the company continues to lose market share left, right, and center. It has only 21.7% share, a 4% loss compared to what things were like back in April, so things are not looking well for the old dog. On the other hand, Microsoft Windows Phone 7 which saw steady growth is losing share again. This time, it lost 1% share to be left with a small 5.7% of the total U.S market. With the upcoming Mango update and Nokia at the helm, things are expected to change drastically in 2012.
Finally, Symbian. This smartphone OS didn’t have much market share to speak of in the U.S, so its loss isn’t that important like the others. Symbian fell from 2.3% to 1.9% share, nothing exciting there but worth a mention nonetheless.
