JumpTap releases US Market Share Map

We already know Android’s pretty much dominating in terms of market share- both globally and in the United States. That’s pretty old news, truth be told. Still, it’s always interesting to get a new perspective on the situation- and that’s precisely what ad network Jumptap’s done here.

They say a picture’s worth a thousand words. If so, the image below speaks volumes. What you’re seeing is a ‘market share map’ of the US based on what mobile OS tends to be predominant in each state. From the looks of things, it’s more or less between Android and iOS- though there are a few stubborn holdout states that still cling to RIM’s Blackberry OS. At first glance, it might appear as though Android and iOS hold fairly equivalent portions of the country- that is, until you consider the fact that the most populous states- and the most influential in a presidential election- have thrown their lot in with Google.

California, Texas, Florida, Nevada, Washington, and Pennsylvania all sweat by Android, whilst the majority of the eastern states are iOS driven. New York, Maryland, and Virginia all remain Blackberry states- probably due to the strong business presence there. After all, if there’s one area where Blackberry still holds sway, it’s in the enterprise world- even if it is in decline most everywhere else.

Anyway, there you have it.  While it doesn’t really tell us anything we don’t know, it still provides a rather unique, very cool perspective on the matter. Here’s hoping Jumptap decides to release similar maps for some of the other Western countries, so we can see where we stand in the Android-iOS war.  Perhaps, some time in the near future, they could work something out for Canada?

Hey, it’s always worth asking, right?
