Watch Out, Microsoft And Nokia Planned Joint Bid For RIM

We reported earlier that Amazon was in failed talks with RIM for a takeover, but who would have guessed that Microsoft and Nokia were both playing around with the idea of a joint venture to eat up the Canadian giant. Of course, just like what RIM did with Amazon, Microsoft and Nokia’s joint venture was turned down or probably put on hold just in case licensing talks with Samsung and HTC hits the gutter.

It is understandable why Microsoft and Nokia are eyeing RIM, all those patents and the popular BBM messaging service would work wonders for the Windows Phone platform in a time where it is struggling to keep up with Android and iOS.  We are definitely certain that RIM will be up for auction in 2012 or 2013, but the big question is, who would come away with the prize?
