Puzzle Past Security In The Heist For iPhone

Fans of puzzle games (I know there’s plenty of you out there) should be pleased with a recent newcomer to the Itunes store. It’s called The Heist, and it features a number of intricate, increasingly difficult puzzle challenges. The premise of the game is that you’re attempting to crack into a high-security vault to claim whatever juicy prize awaits you inside. The game’s never tacitly clear on what the prize- which is actually a real world reward- But it hardly matters. You’ll be playing The Heist for the puzzles- the prize is just a bonus.

Designed by Macheist(who tend to have a reputation for creative and awesome software giveaways), The Heist features four different types of puzzles to solve, sixty puzzles in total. That’s a lot of puzzle solving. And the thing is, the puzzles are fun, because The Heist works on a very basic principle: “take a classic puzzle and put an interesting twist on it”. (Gigaom) Anyway, the four puzzles in The Heist are as follows:

First up, you have the wire puzzle- a traditional fifteen puzzle. Basically, you’re given a bunch of tiles, and you need to slide them into place so that each of the nodes on the outside of the puzzle area is connected to the other by a wire of the same color.

Next up is the Glyphs puzzle, which is a twist on the numbers game known as Sudoku. Each hieroglyph must be grouped with others of the same color, and only one of each symbol can be in a each row or column.

Then there’s a block slider puzzle, where the goal is to move the blocks in such a way that the gadget in the middle can ‘escape.’

Finally, we have a puzzle styled on a game known as sokoban. The goal is to move each block in the puzzle into a slot. The blocks can only be pushed from behind-they cannot be pulled.

I haven’t even gotten to the best part yet. The app’s only $0.99 on the Itunes store. Definitely worth a buy, wouldn’t you say?
