Samsung Merged Its Bada Effort With Intel’s Tizen

Something interesting is happening, Samsung is merging its Bada OS effort with Tizen, the open source platform that gobbled up MeeGo after Nokia ditched it for Windows Phone. We’re guessing Samsung figured it couldn’t go it alone so help was needed, and rightfully so because Bada was going nowhere but down hill.
For the single Bada fanboy, you’ll be happy to know that Samsung promises backward compatibility with Bada apps when the first Tizen smartphone is launched by Samsung later in the year. Tizen could be a true challenger since the innovations from MeeGo and Bada are all coming in one package to take on Android, iOS, and Windows Phone for smartphone supremacy. And if that isn’t enough, Intel is the main company behind Tizen, as they were behind MeeGo, so this is one OS everyone should keep an eye on this year.
