Review: Videos Free, Fairly Useful Video Browser App

Alright, I’m back to my Windows Phone application reviewing ways, whether they be good or bad. First up, is an app called Videos Free, which is basically a door way to videos all over the Internet, or just YouTube, we’re not certain yet.
I was excited about Videos Free when I first saw it popped up on the Marketplace, but since using it for just little over ten minutes, I have say that it is not all it makes out to be. Searching for videos is simple, just tap into the search box and fire away. I also dig the option to favorite keywords so you won’t have to type them over again if the need arises to see content related to them.
Search and favoring keywords is all good, true, however, when it comes to the main attraction, Videos Free falls short and left me scratching my head. The quality of videos are not the best, maybe the average Joe Grine probably wouldn’t find a problem with the quality, but my Samsung Focus has a gorgeous display thus I require videos to take advantage of it. When it comes to video controls, things are not all that bad, I found it easy navigating through videos and that is always a welcoming addition. Unlike the default Zune player, Videos Free video player ditches the big buttons for something simple. If you want to get to the next video from within the current video, just swipe to your right, to replay, swipe to your left, or double swipe to your left for the previous video.
That’s basically it when it comes to Videos Free to be honest. I know that I am a little hard on the low quality video playback, but at least give me high quality on WiFi, I’d be down with that. I must say, Videos Free has promise, but when compared to other video centric applications, it doesn’t shine that much. A few updates can fix this, so developers, get to it.
Pros:
Free
Easy to search
Able to favor keywords for easy access later
Easy to use controls
Cons:
Video playback quality sucks! Yeah, that killed it for me truly.
