Watch Out, Microsoft And Nokia Planned Joint Bid For RIM

We reported earlier that Amazon was in failed talks with RIM for a takeover, but who would have guessed that Microsoft and Nokia were both playing around with the idea of a joint venture to eat up the Canadian giant. Of course, just like what RIM did with Amazon, Microsoft and Nokia’s joint venture was turned down or probably put on hold just in case licensing talks with Samsung and HTC hits the gutter.



Looks like Mobile Syrup’s anonymous tipster was right on the money. They told the Canadian tech blog that Telus would be receiving the Bold 9900 and Torch 9810 yesterday, and sure enough, the phones arrived on Telus’s network. In a move that brings us ever closer to what some people are referring to as “the rebirth of RIM,” we’ve seen a price list surface on Crackberry for the
RIM’s portfolio of new- the Bold 9900, Torch 9810 and Torch 9860- are coming to Canada. Today; Rogers, Bell, and Telus all announced that they would be carrying the smartphones- the latter even announced release dates.
