Windows Phone Marketplace Now Home To 50,000 Apps

The Windows Phone Marketplace is gaining steam, the last time we checked it was little over 30,000 apps strong, now we are hearing that it has reached the 50,000 apps milestone. We can’t say we are that excited since from what we have been seeing from new apps added daily, there ate more RSS Feeds than anything else.

CES 2012: LG To Announce First Intel Medfield Smartphone Running Android

We’ve been longing to see what Intel can offer the smartphone market in terms of x86 dual core chipsets, now, it appears our prayers will soon be answered. The Korea Times is reporting today that the first Intel Medfield based Android smartphone will be unveiled by LG at CES 2012 in January, with a launch date set for March of the same year.

Windows Phone Game Orb Is Now Free For A Limited Time

Celebrate fellow Windows Phone users, tis the month to be happy because free stuff is being given away. There’s a game on the Windows Phone platform called Orb, usually, it would be a premium title but not today. Orb is being offered for free until Santa knows when, so you should get going before the developers re-attach the price.

6.8 Million Android And iOS Devices Activated On Christmas Day

This Christmas was a lucrative one for both Android and iOS, as both platforms together saw nearly 7 million smartphone activations on the day. No word on which platform came out on top, but one thing is for certain, Android and iOS are both leaving the competition in the dust.

Acer Committed To Tablets Despite Disappointing Sales In 2011

Despite the slow adoption of Acer branded tablets and tablets in general that are not iPads, Acer is committed to stick it out and launch new tablets in 2012. Honestly though, the tablet market is very lucrative if you can get it right, Acer doesn’t have a choice but to soldier it through these difficult times or else risk being left behind.

Sony: Tablet S And Tablet P Bound For ICS Update In 2012

Sony is showing itself to be supportive by announcing that it will update the first two tablets from the company to Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich. Not only that, but every Xperia named smartphones released in 2011 will also get the update, how awesome is that? Unlike other companies, Sony is not out to force consumers to upgrade to new hardware to get the best of what Android has to offer.
