Board Of Directors Cut Steve Ballmer’s Bonus In Half Due To Windows Phone Low Sales

Steve Ballmer is not a happy man today folks. With the slow or better yet, nonexistence sales of Windows Phone, Ballmer is only entitled to half of his bonus pay. In a good year, Ballmer would have gotten a 200% bonus of his regular pay, however, this year, he will have to settle with 100% which isn’t considerably a bad thing. On the flip side, we believe this is showing what is going on inside Microsoft, Ballmer is slowly losing his grip and desperately needs to get Windows Phone off to a flying start next year.
Windows Phone isn’t the only reason Steve Ballmer is getting half of his bonus, the percent decline in revenue for Windows and the Windows Live division also plays a big part in the board’s decision to shut him out. Here is what the board had to say about all this:
“Lower than expected initial sales of Windows Phone 7; the two per cent decline in revenue for the Windows and Windows Live Division; the need for further progress in new form factors,”
Fortunately for Ballmer, he did some good and got a bit of praise from the board, notably for the Skype acquisition and the Nokia deal. Say what you want about the man, but since the year began, Steve has been hitting the right notes in preparation for a 2012 assault by Microsoft. You know what they say, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going, and that is definitely what Steve Ballmer is doing right now.
