Super AMOLED Device Coming from Samsung at MWC 2010

Samsung is rumored to be cooking a totally hot handset which is supposedly coming at MWC 2010. It's still not known whether it's going to be a bada-powered device or not but we do know that it's going to be a Super AMOLED handset.

The Super AMOLED touchscreen is an AMOLED display that happens to have the touch function integrated within itself. We don't have all the details yet but it looks like the unnamed phone could sport a 3.3-inch panel that will be able to deliver up to 5 times more vivid colors and act up to 20% better outdoors.

Google Shaves $200 Off the Nexus One Equipment Recovery Fee

Google Shaves $200 Off the Nexus One Equipment Recovery Fee

The Google Nexus One is a somewhat successful phone. It has great specs and features and Google's vision of a dependable OS. But that wasn't enough to make it a hit phone. The device sold in only 80,000 units in the first month which is a really disappointing number for Google.

A number of factors influenced buyers: the 3G issues from a couple of weeks ago, the lack of multitouch and that extra Google ETF. Besides T-Mobile early termination fee Google decided to come up with its own Equipment Recovery Fee for those handsets sold for subsidized prices by T-Mobile. That extra ETF amounted to $350 which is a huge fee to pay on top of T-Mobile's ETF should one decide to ditch the contract after a while.

HTC HD2 Finally Receives Its Stand

HTC HD2 Finally Receives Its Stand

What's the matter with all these smartphones demanding stands all of a sudden? Is that a feature that we will require from all hot upcoming handsets? The HTC HD2 is the phone we're looking at today and it also has a kickstand.

The device also doubles as an extra battery and it can be yours today for the price of just £41.11. By that I mean of course that British folks can pre-order it right now but it will only have it shipped to their door at some point in March. That's not a bad offer considering that previous pricing details suggested that this HD2 stand will cost a lot more, somewhere around £85.

Google Maps v3.4 Brings Multitouch to the Droid

Google Maps v3.4 Brings Multitouch to the Droid

One of the problems of the Motorola Droid was the lack of multitouch. And it would have been fine too if the Motorola Milestone, essentially the non-US Droid version, didn't come with multitouch features enabled. So naturally U.S customers have been also demanding multitouch support. Does that sound familiar? Well Google also forgot to include multitouch support on the Nexus One too.

Luckily for you Google has been working hard on updates lately. The Nexus One OTA update had multitouch support on board and now it looks like the Droid will also get some multitouch love.
