"Alpha Rebellion

The Vordick Empire has the galaxy's most advanced power source. They didn't make it. They took it.

And it's your job to get it back!"

That may sound a little old school but we all know that most of the the MS-DOS games are now reborn for Pocket PC gamers. Alpha Rebellion has just been released by SwordAndSpirit, based on the "360 degrees" movement control scheme it has pretty good in-game sounds and gameplay.

You fly the colonist's greatest weapon, the FH-107 Haymaker, a versatile fighter/bomber capable of both surgical strikes and rescue missions and deep into enemy territory. The Haymaker carries a broad range of surface and air-to-air weapons waiting to be unleashed upon your enemies. Using tractor beam technology you lift friendlies from the clutches of your enemies, or drag enemy tanks and smash them into a nearby cliff wall.

The game is compatible with WM2003 or later windows mobile versions with VGA/QVGA screens. You may experience some problems with the scrolling on VGA devices but its not so bad. Alpha Rebellion is stylus-controllable and you don't need the D-pad. Shooting, scrolling, changing weapons or showing minimap is done with the hardware buttons.

I agree the sounds and the ingame music are great, but the video is nothing special. Most of the characters are made by hand and looks a little ugly, the explosions are not big and spectacular like in skyforce reloaded.

Alpha Rebellion has a trial download version and the fullgame cost about $9.99 which is affordable for a game like this which will take a long game play time.
