Preview of Microsoft Silverlight for Windows Mobile with Scott Holden Microsoft has announced recently the first beta of Silverlight, a cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering the next generation of .NET-based media experiences and rich interactive applications (RIAs). Microsoft's describes it as way more than just a Adobe Flash competitor but for sure it's also a Flash competitor.

Microsoft's Silverlight needs a plug-in to view Silverlight applications in the browser, just like the Adobe's Flash plug-in. Currently Silverlight is available as public Beta for Windows and Mac and the upcoming Windows Mobile support is only announced so far but not available yet. This fact makes even cooler the Preview which Scott Holden, Principle Product Unit Manager for the .NET Compact Framework, shows on Windows Mobile device.

At the moment FLV (Flash Video) is the most common standard but unfortunately, these videos are not available in the most of mobile sites. As it looks like the Microsoft Silverlight will be serios competitor of Adobe Flash player for mobile devices.
