Knowing whats the time is an essential for every mobile user, but using the default Windows Mobile today screen date and time plugin is not always giving us the complete time information we need, plus that its really small and not very readable from distance. Of course most of the new HTC WM6 devices comes equipped with the popular HTC home plugin, which is great but also it consumes alot of memory so if you want your device to run fast and smooth you may consider using liter today screen clock.

In this article we will review three freeware solutions for displaying the current date and time on your today screen. The first one is the so called Pocket Digital Clock. It looks similar to the HTC home but its very lightweight and supports custom skins.



The default digital clock view has a good readability while its used with blackish today screen theme. It will display the current time with seconds plus the date and it will not take much of your today screen space with is also a plus for this app.

And while i mentioned custom skins i just cant pass the rlToday which is a little more advanced tool highly customizable ! It's a multi purpose plugin, freely configurable to your own taste with a XML Skin File. You can easily put analog and digital clocks, dates, images and calendars on your today screen. The best feature of this app according to me is that i can have couple of clocks with different time zones. The last clock i will write about today is called Retro PPC. This little plugin displays an analog clock, similar to those wall clocks. Retro PPC is also easy to customize and it supports antialiased-grade graphics quality, better than alternatives !



There isnt much to say as a conclusion but one is for sure, having clock on my today screen is a must !
