How to install CAB files on Your Pocket PC

i have rarwin and everytime i try to extract it i dnt get any CAB files they never commethrough as CAB files...do i need a special software to install CAB files?

I was confused to and then I happened to stumble upon the answer..... Open the location that you saved it to, open the file and then press and hold it down until a menu pops up. Click the extract button. Make sure all files is selected and then choose the location from the top of the screen where you want it extracted to. Mine defaults to my documents so I just saved it there. Once you select the location, click extract. After the files have been extracted go back to the file explorer and find the new location that you saved it to. The file name will be the same but the icon will be different. Click the newly saved file and it will install as indicated in the sites instructions from there. Hope this helps!!

how do I unarchive it when its in the zip files ?

WOW I got to this page by looking for a way to get a .cab file from a setup.exe. YEAH these programmers like to create .exe's when you really just want a .cab file to run from your sd card. The reason people get a PPC is not so they can carry a laptop around with them so they can reinstall 30 apps if they need to. One answer I have found that doesn't always work is to install from PC using setup.exe. Then try reinstalling the same app again. What happens? it asks you if you want to reinstall When you see that on your PPC then bring the containing folder forward by clicking outside the message window. Now you should see a file or a folder there that could be a temporary cab file that was extracted from setup.exe. Copy it to another directory and mark it read only. Now you just might a cab file that works. One way to find out. Verify that it works by reinstalling from it. Some .cab files only work with certain versions ...2002...2003...SE so get the right one for your OS! That's why they might not work.

i have a htc p3600i. i downloaded some softwares and tried installing them. it did not work. what i did was unzip those files, and then try to run the setup file from the desktop the conventional way. i also tried to download the .cab files but it did not work. my problem is that those files i unzipped opens up as a .xml file (for the set up file) other files opens up as .001,.002,.003 files. some files also open up as .tsk files. Also, is there a difference between a .cab file and a .CAB file? please help me. thanks

I noticed 2or3 folks talking about .exe files and the guy said it right when stated we buy PPC phones to not carry laptops around. My question is if the desktop my phones sync to(Treo 700wx) and I have no internet connection on that cpu can I download it on a storage card on any cpu w/ internet connection then insert into my cpu and convert that .exe file to run on my phone? if so please give me info(in-depth). Also anyone familiar with pdanet, if somebody knows info to that please explain(it says my phone can be my connection for my desktop to go online but the file to download is in .exe format,and if that's the case and the answer to my 1st part of post is no then sometimes I wonder why I bought this phone, why would you even want pdanet if you already have a connection to internet. please help, thanks to all who gave time to read, have a blessed day,Danny

I have loaded one cab file onto my PPC. I have tried youtube and pdaStatus cab files and get the same message "is not a valid widows CE Setup file. my PPC is a NAVMAN PiN 570 running windows mobile 2003. can anyone help.

well for u guys that haven't yet being able to accomplish this i will tell u how, the secret and i'm going to try to make it simple, well the thing is that u download it right and it comes in a zipped folder, or in my case is winrar type, the thing is that u have to transfer it like this to the ppc, do not unzipped it on the computer, well after u transfer it the next thing is just open it on the pocket pc and done. in my case i put on safestore and then open it like that. i hope this will help.

People HEAR me!!! It's very clear, DO NOT UNZIPPED, UNARCHIVE, EXTRACT or whatsoever the .cab files on your desktop PC. copy it directly to your pocket pc, then from your pocket pc tap it, and it will automatically install the program. If it still does not work, meaning the program is not compatible to your OS! Don't push for it!!! AS SIMPLE AS THAT!!!

Hi, I have a WM6.5 CE OS 5.2.21234 build 21812.5.0.50 phone. I am trying to run a .cab file and I am getting the following error. The cab file is to enable English T9 feature. “Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permission” I have placed the .cab file under "My Documents". Please help me.
