May 11 iPhone Firmware 2.0 beta 5 for 3G

The iPhone is coming shortly with their new second-generation of phones and Apple is going to introduce the 3G model. In the mean time iPhone stocks ran out both in UK and US Apple stores, not to mention local carriers. Besides the 3G support there are rumors that the iPhone will increase memory capacity to 32GB and will change design.

As for software updates, the iPhone Firmware 2.0 beta 5 will have a menu to customize 3G funcionality. You will be able to enable or disable 3G connection to save battery life. You will also be in control of data access while roaming. This option will let you avoid any unnecessary data roaming charges. Also there’s a VPN option for customizing your VPN connection. Also, Firmware 2.0 is rumored to support handwriting to text applications designed, for now, for the Chinese users. We’ll have more news on that as we learn more ourselves.
