What Do You Think? A Virtual Keyboard?

Looking at the picture I can’t help but wonder if that would actually be useful to me. What I mean is that I am so used to a QWERTY keyboard that I’d have a hard time adjusting to any other kind. However it seems a cool idea and it might be just the next thing for certain mobile applications. Imagine switching back and forth from portrait to landscape. Wouldn’t a vertical keyboard suit your needs? Sure it might slow you down at first but once you get used to it, it will be just another clever idea.

The vertical keyboard isn’t available yet as its creator is waiting for consumer’s thoughts. Go to Empower Mobility if you think your feedback might improve their future creation. I have a few questions though. Will this apply to touch screens too? Will those virtual buttons fit anyone’s fingers? Wouldn’t it be easier to adapt an actual real mini-keyboard work with future smartphones? Shouldn’t we finish those projects requiring lots of data entry on our laptops/desktops and then simply upload them to our ultra capable phone? In other words, although original, is it worth developing a vertical keyboard?
