Samsung SCH-W510 and SGH-F268 Environment Friendly Samsung will launch these two new models, the SCH-W510 and SGH-F268 somewhere later this month. These are supposed to be environment friendly devices and promoters of Samsung's future handsets. Perhaps other cell phone manufacturer should follow Samsung in their quest of delivering cell phones made of something else.

The W510 will use natural dissolved bio plastic made from corn starch for the battery cover and other parts. Also the surface coatings will anti-bacterial to prevent any harmful effects of the cell phone on our body.

The F268 will be both BFR and PVC free. BFR stands for brominated flame retardants which Samsung is planning to eliminate from their production line starting with 2009 while PVC will be disposed off by 2010. The F268 will be available in China and it will be a full eco-friendly device with its accessories being also BFR and PVC free.

Wonder what these phones can actually do. Are they going to be entry level handsets or more sophisticated?
