Sprint's Samsung Instinct Gets an Upgrade Remember that old phone that Sprint released a long time ago? You know, Samsung Instinct, that smartphone trying to win the battle with the iPhone? Well although it passed such a terrible long time since being released without any software updates for Sprint's subscribers, Sprint has finally decided to offer a Samsung Instinct a software upgrade on June 30th. Apparently not only RIM has upgrades in mindÂ…

I know what you are thinking; how long has this Instinct been in business already? Hasn't the Instinct been released just a little over two weeks ago? Yes it has! The Samsung Instinct is just a baby phone. Just fresh out of the box. So why do we already need a software update? Isn't enough that Sprint is really making huge efforts to subsidize it and sell it properly before the iPhone hits? Should they start upgrading software that fast, after only a couple of weeks?

I hope that everything is fine and this is not a must-have-software-download-or-your Instinct-will-crash kind of thing. We'll find out more on Monday. In the mean time here's what they say on Samsung Instinct forums: I apologize for your disappointment regarding some of the software. We will have a software upgrade available 6/30/08. You can request a software update on your phone on that date. Press the home icon and tap main. Tap settings, then tap general, scroll down and tap update software.
