BT Spammer Offers Malicious Fun For Pocket PC Devices

I'm not sure if BT Spammer is an ethical program, after all spamming nearby devices via bluetooth seems more like a way to play a practical joke on family and friends, then a marketable tool, but i'm actually okay with that.

However, the program works on Windows Mobile 5.0, 6.0 and 6.1 devices and its a competent program therefore worthy of writing about.

BT Spammer installed very easily on my device and the program is pretty self explanatory. In terms of the "Sent" user column you can choose an Error Connecting to target device error, and Unknown Status Error, and a File was Successfully sent error. While the choices are limited they should be enough to have the users within bluetooth range open their devices.

Furthermore, the message area allows users to set whatever message they choose. I spammed one of my other device with a plain text message and it was received in seconds, as was a vcard and a picture send.

I can see the viability of the program in large cities in which companies could send out armies of employees into the streets, perhaps with a free text message coupon, picture or vcard.

The program will only work if the devices in the area are in Bluetooth discoverable mode for obvious reasons, and the program connects to all Bluetooth devices in that mode, meaning you can literally contact hundreds of devices at once. There is a slight delay based on the number of devices the unit connects to.

Overall I would suggest using it for practical jokes on your friends, it was the reason the program was originally target for according to the author, and it will drive them crazy all night trying to figure out who the sender is.
