Jul 20 Shareware: Pocket Tunes Deluxe 4.1.0 For Smartphones Worth The Cost
Found in:Shareware, Smartphones, Software,
Typically I have been reviewing Freeware applications, however recently I found a shareware program that was well worth the money. Pocket Tunes Deluxe is an application that allows users to not only listen to audio clips via the player, but also a host of other audio file types. Basically the program creates an all in one audio application for Smartphone use.
Aside from typical audio files the Pocket Tunes application can playback audio books, podcasts and even internet radio stations via a data connection.
While playing back songs I was impressed by both the audio quality of songs played directly from the phone and from the phones memory card, both options available on the program. Just like Windows Mobile on your PC you can also view the songs album cover, and even sync your program to your pc to find songs for download and ultimately for playback.
Users can also access music subscription services for the purpose of finding new songs from pay-to-download offerings.
In terms of radio play I liked the number of selections available on the program. There are literally hundreds of stored stations that are organized into categories. If you have a favorite that isn't listed you can of course search for the station and load it yourself.
Like many shareware players you also have the option to download or select installed skins to give your player a more "you" feel. The skins range from bright and in your face, to modern with clean lines.
The program also allows users to use an equalizer to set the music levels to their personal tastes.
My favorite part of the application however was when I sync'd the device to my Windows Media 11 player and was able to download the songs and sync my playlist from the WM Media Player. This also works on iTunes which I don't use, but i'm assuming it works in the same way.
Finally with Audiobooks and in my testing case Podcasts, bookmarks can be set when you are in the middle of a file and be resumed at a later time, in the case of audiobooks this can be very helpful if the book your listening to won't be listened to in one sitting.
With support for MP3, AAC and WMA files the program is definitely worth the 37.95 if you are an audiophile, or simply want to manage all of your audio file types at the same location.
I've included some screenshots of the application below, these are from the manufacturer page listed in the opening paragraph link.
