One degenerated rivalry is the well known Nokia-Qualcomm situation. Their conflict has apparently reached a surprising truce. With only one day of arbitration the company managed to do what was thought to be impossible by some: come to terms. Both Nokia and Qualcomm finally understood the fact that their squabble over products and patents will only harm their consumers. And that's us of course.
Nokia and Qualcom have agreed to swap patents. That means each one of them will still be able to use their own patents while also working with the competition's patents too. Nokia is willing to share various patents related to GSM, WCDMA and OFDMA, or the kind of info tons of people and companies would like to get their hands on. Anti-competition claims against Qualcomm in Europe appear to have been dropped, while an old school cash settlement is suspected but unproven so far. After all we should assume there was money involved also.
Let's see what the next day brings in this Nokia Qualcomm difference of opinions.
