Symbian and Android Merger? Besides Microsoft's CEO Steve Ballmer telling us about his dreams of finally getting a Microsoft phone, there's another shocking news today. People at J. Gold Associates are saying that Google and Nokia will let their babies, Android and Symbian play in the sand, fall in love and live happily ever after.

Although they are direct competitors heading towards different directions, this type of merger might actually be beneficial to both parties involved and not only. I must say such a prediction is really weird coming at times like these. After all Nokia has just purchased Symbian and then launched into the wild open source world. Google on the other hand has Android, an OS that's not ready yet but which will soon be. 2009 will be the year when most Android handsets should be launched, with very few Android mobiles, if any, to be launched this year.

J. Gold says this is a sure thing to happen in the future, we'll just have too sit and wait it out: "A combination of the Android and Symbian efforts would be good for the industry, good for Google and good for Symbian."
