One of the most expected Windows Mobile smartphones from Sony Ericsson is the Xperia X1. People have been waiting for it for quite a while now and it seems they are in for an even longer wait. Due to apparent OS failures the handset will be postponed to December 2008 or even January 2009.
Sony and Ericsson seem to have arrived at a turning point in their partnership. Their recent problems caused rumors all around the Internet. According to those rumors Sony wants out of the partnership if things aren't going to improve for their joint mobile adventure. What does that mean? The Xperia X1 might be the last Windows Mobile smartphone to come from Sony Ericsson before the companies would part. We might even see this Xperia as an Ericsson Xperia X1 in the future.
No matter what Sony and Ericsson do, we can't help to feel disappointed in regard to this delay. By the time the Xperia X1 will actually arrive, we will have other smartphones to play with.
