Review: LR std v1.0 Freeware For Palm Devices

Growing up I was addicted to Lode Runner. For anyone unfamiliar with the game, Load Runner is an action/adventure game in which the player must collect items without becoming trapped in dead ends, and without being touched by computer enemies. I hadn't played the game in years until today when I found LR std v1.0 a low tech Palm OS based version of the classic computer game.

In order to Play LR std V1.0 users will be required to use Palm OS v3.1 devices. The installation is very simple and the program uses very little system resources.

First in terms of gameplay I have to comment on the graphics, its a monochrome game, so basically don't expect too much eye candy, with that said the original lode runner game much like the Palm version was never about graphics, it was about strategy. In the Palm version their are only 5 levels to complete, each with their own level of difficulty.

Overall the levels don't take long to master, however the game also offers an edit mode for creating your own levels, this is great if you want to challenge yourself, or have competitions among friends to see who can create the hardest level to master.

Overall if you liked the original this is a fun reminder of the original feel, however the number of levels leaves something to be determines.
