Found in:Devices, iPAQ,
You have never heard of hw6915 and hw6910 (i.e. hw6900 series)? Well, it's time to get acquainted... There is a rumor that hw6715 / hw6710 phones will be released under different name: hw6915 / hw6910. They will look identically as hw6515 but instead of SD card slot the regular Wi-Fi (802.11b not 802.11g though) will be offered. These phones will have only one memory card slot: in mini-SD format. Their processor will be spruced up a bit and will offer 416 MHz instead of 300 MHz - as it was in hw6515. Apart from that they will be delivered right away with AKU 2.0 Windows Mobile 5.0 what means that push e-mail and stereo audio over Bluetooth (A2DP) will be included in them right from the start. It looks like however GPS chipset used in hw6915 / hw6910 will be the same as in hw6515 : i.e. not SiRF III but of older generation.
Conclusion: competition in area of Windows Mobile Pocket PC phones with built-in GPS is heating up and apart from HP, also MiTAc (Mio Technology) and ETEN will be offering such phones next year. The mighty HTC surely will not wait long too although introduction of HTC phones with built-in GPS and distributed through mobile operators and distributors like i-mate, dopod and Qtek could convince HP to dump HTC as manufacturer of their HP iPaq phones...
