IBM's Lotus Notes is soon coming to Nokia's Symbian S60 devices, as the phone manufacturer ups the ante of its fight against Blackberry maker RIM.

Nokia announced that with the tie up: "More than 80 million people - the number of Nokia S60 3rd Edition devices shipped globally - can connect to corporate email accounts via Lotus Domino Server software known as Lotus Notes Traveler. This software provides real time access to email, calendar, address book, journal and to-do list data and will be available for Nokia devices in December 2008."

IBM's Lotus Notes has 140 million registered users worldwide.

According to a Reuters report, brisk sales of the E71 smartphone have helped in Nokia's uphill fight against Blackberry this year, and the company may get snatch more Blackberry users with the introduction of the cheaper E63.

The E63 is a more affordable version of the E71, with an all-plastic body, a lower resolution camera and sans HSDPA, among others.
