Clearwire and the unit of Sprint Nextel that is building the new WiMax (4G) network have successfully merged! The Clearwire name will be retained, and they will absorb Sprint's existing Baltimore-area WiMax network plus Sprint spectrum covering much of the US.

This could bring Sprint back from the shadows of AT&T and Verizon if they play their cards right. It should be amazing just to see the new phones that will be offered when Sprint begins offering nationwide (or almost) 4G network coverage.
