The iPhone seems to get more market share around the world. We've seen Apple surpassing Windows Mobile in the USA and now the same seems to happen on a worldwide scale.
According to global smartphone statistics for the last quarter, Symbian has 43.6% of the market followed by the iPhone with 16.6% and only in third place by both Windows Mobile and BlackBerry with about 12% each. In the USA, BlackBerry has a whopping 40% share followed by the iPhone with 30% and then Windows Mobile with 17%.
The iPhone looks like it's wining its battle with Microsoft in the smartphone business and RIM is not doing bad either. Android is also coming in strong so everyone should prepare for another tough competitor. What is Microsoft going to do? We're hoping for a better 2009 for the smartphone business, no matter who's bringing in the OS!
