According to Needham analyst Charlie Wolf, the iPhone by itself has 30% market share in the U.S. smartphone market and 16.6 percent of the worldwide smartphone market. Apple is only second to Nokia, but they have lost quite a bit of business to the iPhone mania.
Steve Jobs bragged earlier this year about Apple shipping more iPhones than RIM did BlackBerrys in Q3. Is this kind of success going to shake up the smartphone industry enough for other popular smartphone manufacturers to be able to compete?
