Smartphone app retailer Handango and retail store chain Best Buy have announced a deal to bring smartphone software to Best Buy's retail stores across the United States in an effort to make it easier for consumers to buy apps.

Best Buy will soon sell Handango apps

Under the deal, Handango will offer Best Buy Mobile customers a content catalogue of top-quality apps ranging from business and productivity to entertainment and games for Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Palm and Symbian S60 smartphones.

Users can now buy the apps for their devices at Best Buy stores using Best Buy's in-store digital Mobile Genie system. In addition, Handango's In-Hand client, custom branded for Best Buy, will be downloaded directly onto each device so customers can continue to purchase apps with Handango and Best Buy even after they leave the store.

Handango promised to regularly update its content catalog so Best Buy Mobile's customers get a continuous array of new and exciting games and applications for their smartphones.

Select Best Buy outlets will also offer their customers a selection of Mobile App Packs featuring three favorite game titles for Windows Mobile, Blackberry and Palm devices. Games will be pre-loaded onto Micro SD cards creating a unique plug-and-play experience for customers which will eliminate the need for over-the-air or desktop downloads that require sync cables.
