America Movil the fourth largest network operator in the world and the largest corporation in Latin America, is setting it's eyes on the US and UK in the near future.

The big boys in the US and UK has better keep their act together as a giant is headed their way some time in the near future. After launching in Jamaica some time in November this year 2008 using their popular brand name Claro, America Movil has stated that they are using Jamaica as a launch pad to step out into other English speaking countries.

According to the Jamaica Gleaner, “Claro CEO Alejandro Gutierrez indicated that Jamaica would be the launch pad for the United States and United Kingdom.” America Movil has a tactic of buying out small network operators and turn them into giants, I am expecting them to do the same when they enter the US and UK markets. At this time, there is no official date for the proposed coming out party, but I'll be thinking on the lines of within or after the next 3yrs, why? Well Movil plans to be number one in the Jamaican market within 3yrs time, as their first English speaking operation they would most likely want to control the Jamaican market before they step out into where the big boys roam free.

Carlos Slim Helu

The America Movil mobile network has over 175 million subscribers, far more than any one network in the US or UK has under their belts. Movil is also headed by the 2nd richest man in the world, Carlos Slim Helu who is some Mexican guy you probably never heard about that kicked Bill Gates you know what to #3.
