Dec 17 New Skype Beta with WM 5.0 better low power CPU support
Found in:Software,
Skype recently released two new Skype clients for the Pocket PC: Skype for Pocket PC Beta version 1.2.0.89 and Skype for Pocket PC low CPU Beta version 1.2.0.91. As you can see, v1.2.0.91 is especially designed for Pocket PCs with less then 400 MHz but Skype still recommends the use of an external W-LAN card if used with Pocket PCs with 300 MHz CPUs. However, I wonder what happens if the new version is used with TI OMAP 850 powered Pocket PCs which have 200 MHz only (like the HTC Wizard, Charmer and Prophet). Have to test it over the weekend.
Anyway, another improvement for both version is the full Windows Mobile 5.0 support including improved landscape mode support and support for 240x240 and 480x480 screens! Also new is the automatic language selection depending on regional settings of the device and support for the the new call forwarding feature.
As always, you can download the latest Skype versions from Skype.com or Mobiletopsoft.com
