It's not surprising Google hasn't created it's own Document viewer and editing application for Android, Google is all about Cloud computing so Google Docs will have to make do until some third party developer step up to the plate, which they have done.

Documents To Go

The guys behind Quick Office were the first to announce the work on Quick Office for Android, while they are still playing with the SDK like a just born baby, DataViz has come out saying they too are working on a Doc application for Android. The application is called Document To Go, if you are a long time Palm OS user then you'd probably be familiar with this application ubdoubtedly, along with Windows Mobile and Symbian users.

DataViz has not set a specific time date for the release of the application otherwise from sometime next year, that's sad because Android needs a native Document Editing application at this time and not Google Docs. While the Cloud continues to rise high, Google Docs won't be relivant to most users until a few years from now, maybe Android users hopes of a Doc Editing applicaion lies in that long announced Quick Office port yet again.
