The first sensible rumor about the Android based Netbook was that Asus would be the first manufacture to make it possible, Asus joined the Open Handset Alliance which made the dream Netbook that much closer to happening. Being a little impatient, the VentureBeat guys went ahead and boot Android on an Asus EEE 1000H, no videos for stronger proof of concept but you know what they say, a picture is worth a 1000 words.
Running Android on the EEE 1000H is not without its problems, unfortunately VentureBeat hit some sound and networking issues along the way which is nothing that cannot be taken care of with a few tweaks here and there. With Intel and Asus being members of the OHA, it's safe to assume that an Android Netbook is not too far off from the store shelves, VentureBeat are thinking along the lines of 2010, I'm hoping for this year, late this year.

A Netbook based on Android would put another dent into the Microsoft super armor, with Android ease of use and the amount of applications that are underway, even the big bad Ubuntu is in for some serious hurt.
