Currently, Google is working on an Add-On for Android, which will allow the blind to play around with Android devices. It is expected to be easy to use and to understand which is obvious, everything will be touchscreen centric with a bit of play with the accelerometer, users will be able to use touch commands to dial a number and if they want to clear the screen, all they need to do is just shake the phone.
Heading this project is T.V Raman, a Google Researcher whom has been blind since he was 14yrs, now you understand the importance of this Add-On. Mr. Raman went ahead and said to this to the New York Times, "The thing I am most interested in is all of the stuff moving to the mobile world, because it is a big life-changer," definitely on the ball there Mr. Raman.
I hope Google put enough resources behind this project, no matter if you're blind or not, everyone needs to use a mobile phone and nothing should make that experience inconvenient.
