Motorola Laying Off Workers, Reducing Product Offerings

According to Phone Scoop, Motorola's handset division may experience a large round of layoffs, possibly even this week. Sources confirm that the layoffs may affect up to 50% of the entire handset operation.

The company is prepared to reduce the number of new handsets released to market down to about a dozen a year. To make a gloomy picture even more gray, the company plans to stop making Windows Mobile smartphones altogether, sticking to the Google Android platform exclusively.
