The Pre is causing quite a buzz at the moment, everyone is going cookoo over the new WebOS and the slick User Interface that would tempt you to drop your iPhone as soon as the Pre hits. Mobile Operator Telstra on seeing what the Palm Pre has to offer at CES 09, came out with some striking statements that will surely heat up the mobile phone wars far beyond than where it is now.
According to Telstra, HTC is set to launch a new handset that is Android based and which runs a custom built Linux software from HTC themselves, what this software will do is not yet known. Other details about the mystery phone is that the screen will be bigger than every other phone HTC has manufactured to date, it will have better and more functionality compared to the Palm Pre, will be available during the 2nd Quarter of 2009, excited yet?
"We have seen both and we believe that the new HTC phone will be a real competitor to the iPhone and the Pre which at this stage looks nice but is still not delivered to market".
While HTC refused to comment on the matter, I expect to see this phone at the Mobile World Congress at Barelona in February hopefully, Android just got whole lot more interesting.
