Nokia has discontinued the N810 Internet Tablet WiMax edition, just as US company Clearwire started its WiMax network in two cities.

Nokia spokeswoman Laurie Armstrong announced the news this week on the company website but did not provide any reason for such a move. She however said that Nokia is still interested in WiMax and that the company will produce WiMax devices in the future.

The Nokia N810 is a portable computer with a 4.1-inch touchscreen and a slide-out keyboard is still on sale but without a WiMax modem.

The Clearwire WiMax network is now live in the US cities of Baltimore and Portland.
