Way back in November 2008, Google pushed aside Android and the G1 in favor for the Apple iPhone to test out their voice search application, finally after month of waiting, Android users can speak to search,

I was never too thrilled with Google's idea to tend to the iPhone first over their own platform, it just seem stupid to me, but hey, I'm not the big G so what do I know. Happily, voice search is now available as an update if you are on the T-Mobile network, for those who have an unlock version on another network, I have no idea how you will be able to acquire the update, but I'll try to find out and let you know.

Google voice search for Android is similar to that of the iPhone, you simply speak your search query into the phone, and everything is gold. Unfortunately, the iPhone version is a tad more superior, all you have to do is put the phone to your face, and the application is activated, with the G1 you will be forced to tap a microphone icon onscreen to get your talkative search on. The reason for this is the fact that the G1 lacks the proximity sensor of the iPhone, in later Android models you may not have to tap anything onscreen, but seriously, is tapping a problem? Not to me its not.
