To reinforce its brand as the mobile world's communications entertainment brand, SonyEricsson showed a mobile phone under the concept name Idou which the company said would provide a look at what it would roll out this year, all under the umbrella of "Entertainment Unlimited".
Idou has a 12.1-megapixel camera, touch features and Xenon flash. The screen provides users unparalleled viewing pleasure in 16:9 widescreen format. It will be powered by the next-generation, open-source Symbian platform.
The company told the audience at the press conference with Entertainment Unlimited, consumers should expect products that:
- Unite the best in class entertainment experiences into one offering such as the Walkman music experience, the Cyber-shot imaging experience, Java gaming and messaging integrated with services and applications.
- Broaden entertainment experiences by integrating the mobile phone into other devices in the home letting consumers share and enjoy top quality entertainment content through a variety of channels including TV, PC and Hifi systems.
- Fuse communication with entertainment by removing barriers and offering unlimited sharing opportunities, multiplying the value of people's entertainment experiences through a host of innovative web applications and SonyEricsson's unique Play Now offering.
The Idou phone, said to be the first to encapsulize and represent Entertainment Unlimited, will be available in the second half of 2009, said SonyEricsson.
SonyEricsson's Sunday night press event was held on the eve of the start of the Mobile World Congress in the Spanish capital of Barcelona.
