A very good time to be a Nokia N95 owner, the old dog just keeps on striving with every passing year, not even the newest Symbian handsets can slow it down.

Windows 3.1 On Nokia N95

A developer who goes by the name Marcin-PRV has ported Windows 3.1 to the Nokia N95, it took him just a day to get the 16yr old MS Operating System up and running on the device, this is surely the best thing I have ever seen for the N95. The OS does not run natively off the N95, instead everything is done through the Symbian version of DOSbox, and according to the developers, it runs accordingly, well not quite.

You can launch Windows 3.1 applications and they will run as expected, the OS renders at the correct resolution so everything should be on screen without the need of side scrolling, the only bad point is the lack of text input, only numbers are recognized by the OS, but since Windows 3.1 will never be truly usable, it doesn't matter.

Marvin has more plans for the N95, he plans to get Windows 95 ported to the device but he fears the low resolution of the N95 might hamper his dreams, here is to hoping everything goes as planned.
