IDG News Service said that Acer officials in Taipei hinted that the company will have such a non-Windows handset this 2009 but declined to state which operating system to be used.

Acer has earlier announced that it will immediately roll out a handset powered by Microsoft's new Windows Mobile 6.5 platform as soon as the OS becomes available.
