The rumors were doing their usual thing recently about an iPhone version of Skype VOIP Client, now everything is more real than UFOs.

Skype for the iPhone has been official announced so fanboys get ready to storm the app store on Tuesday. Skype for iPhone has a different look and feel compared to that of other platforms, the look blends in more with the iPhone theme so die hard fans would probably relish this move. Next, some features are missing as I expected, nothing which would make this app a deal breaker but I would still have liked to see everything in there like SMS and conference calling.

Features that are still hanging around is the ability to make VOIP calls, the downside to this is you are only limited to use available Wi-Fi connections and not 3G. As you may already know, Skype allow users to make free calls to anyone who has a Skype account and cheap international calls to landlines.

The iPhone getting Skype is big news, I had thought all the Apple restrictions would have hindered Skype coming to the iPhone but as you can now see, I was wrong.
