Smarting from the demise of the Palm OS platform and prepping up for the release of the webOS-powered Palm Pre, Palm rejoices over the warm welcome given the Treo Pro smartphone by telcos across the Americas, north and south.

Treo Pro

In a post at the official company blog, Palm said that the Windows Mobile-powered Treo Pro has been launched in seven telcos in North and South America starting January this year, including US telcos Sprint and Alltel.

All in all, the Treo Pro is now available in 20 countries worldwide, in both GSM and CDMA variants.

While its market reach may not be as wide as those enjoyed by the Treo 600 and the Treo 650, it appears the Treo Pro is proving to be a reliable "filler" model for the moment when everyone's waiting for the Palm Pre smartphone sometime before June this year.
