Good news for Android loyalists, Acer might be on the verge of releasing their first Android handset sometime in 2009, wish we had a more solid date than that.

Currently Android need to find its way on a plethora of handsets very quickly as competition heats up from Palm WebOS and iPhone OS 3.0 so the possible Acer Android phone this year is greatly welcome. Aymar de Lencquesaing, the head of Acer's Smart Handheld Business Group, this week said "We have not made any formal announcement of an Android- based device, although it's likely that we'll have one in 2009. We intend to have devices that will take advantage of multiple platforms." Is that proof enough or what?

Bring on the Acer Androids and from where ever else Android handsets will be coming from.
