Jan 24 Motorola Q Windows Mobile rumors from Verizon Wireless
Found in:Mobile News,

Motorola Q is not released commercially still, push e-mail patch was released by Microsoft to manufactures but it still has not arrived to the end users, and generally people are a little bit confused about it. So to get a clear vision of the situation here are some rumors about Verizon Wireless... and since Verizon Wireless has exclusivity on 2 hottest Windows Mobile phones /Motorola Q and Treo 700w/ plus it goes from strength to strength in releasing windows Mobile phones in general, these rumors may be interesting both for Americans and for the rest of the world.

We are allready familiar with that, but Motorola just officially confirmed that they're going to be launching the EV-DO version of their Q Smartphone in the first quarter of next year. They wouldn't go so far as to confirm which carrier is getting it, but it'd be very, very surprising if it wasn't Verizon

Some Of the rumors about Moto Q:

* Motorola Q will have AKU 2.2 when released which might be why Motorola holds up in general. Motorola is getting ready to release the "Q" to Verizon soon for their internal testing, and Motorola hopes to have Motororla Q out to end customers by April but that is a soft date.

* ROM upgrade to Windows Mobile 5.0 will be released soon for Samsung i730 and Samsung i830 and it will right away contain AKU 2. After ROM upgrade to Windows Mobile 5.0 for ETEN M500 this will be second ROM upgrade that will convert Windows Mobile 2003 phone to Windows Mobile 5.0 phone.

Obviously main selling point of Motorola Q is support for Microsoft's push e-mail, so obviously Motorola doesn't want to have it out without push e-mail support. Interestingly Samsung Pocket PC phones will get upgrade to windows Mobile 5.0 and it will be only owners of HTC made phones powered by Windows Mobile 2003, that will be left without such upgrade.

Conclusions: Motorola Q is not cancelled (yet) but is still undergoing tests now (result may be negative after all) and (most probably) will be released soon at Verizon Wireless, that has exclusivity period of 6 months for several hot Windows Mobile phones, including Treo 700w and Motorola Q. Interestingly AKU 2.2 is in works already and Microsoft proceeds with releasing of push e-mail despite being sued by Visto. As you can see from these story, despite delays, there is progress underway behind the scenes.
