Instead of being a native application, Google Latitude for the iPhone is a web app so every time you wish to update your location you will be forced to open the browser. Now don't blame Google for this, according to the big G, Apple has stated that they are concerned over whether users may confuse Google Latitude for Google Maps, really stupid talk there from Apple.
Here is what i think, Apple has MobileMe which is a kind of locate your iPhone and friends service which is subscription based, Google Latitude is more or less the same but instead it is free. Basically Apple fears Latitude could become a threat to its business so they force Google to not create an application which could be downloaded from the App Store.
