One of the hottest phones announced last year was the Garmin-Asus Nuvifone G60
. The combined effort between Garmin and Asus assured anyone that the Nuvifone was going to be a success. Unfortunately the phone got more and more delayed and as we speak it hasn't been launched yet in most markets.
The designated carrier in the USA looks to be AT&T. Although nothing is yet confirmed, the Nuviphone will be available from AT&T at some point in the near future. And here's where the bad, but yet unofficial, news come in. The G60 will be available for $300 on a two-year contract. Too much you say? Well the full price will be $550 which is far too much for a phone that will offer you quad-band HSDPA connectivity, lots of GPS features, WiFi, Bluetooth and a full browser. A lot of other smartphones out there are capable of very similar features, if not better, and they are awfully cheaper than the G60. But since hope always dies last, we can still hope that AT&T will come up with a better pricing scheme than that!
