Hate it or love it, but the Apple iPhone App Store has changed the industry forever, it has set the bar so high that everyone is having problems catching up even though Apple is so restrictive, that goes to show that money is to be made there.

Word just out states that the App Store has now surpassed the 2 billion download milestone, sure most of these applications being downloaded are just used for one or a few times then get thrown out, but that matters not, what matters is that users are using the service on a regularly basis compared to the competition. We have to also take into consideration that Android, Windows Mobile and others has more than one application store spread across the Internet while the App Store sits alone, so no one may never know how far behind the competition are.

Just a few months ago Apple announced that they reached the 1.5 billion download mark with over 65000 applications to choose from, now they have over 85,000, that is what you call one huge jump in that small amount of time. Expect the amount of apps in the store to surpass 100,000 by year end or come very close, keep your eyes peeled people.
