Telefonica is the latest carrier to announce its intentions to develop a future LTE
network. In order to properly do that, the telecommunication company will start trials in six internationally markets. Curiously the number six appears again as Telefonica will run the test for six months and will work with six LTE technology providers.
Telefonica will work together with Ericsson, Huawei, ZTE, NEK, Nokia Siemens Network, Alcatel-Lucent to complete various LTE tests. Telefonica operates as O2 in the UK, Germany and the Czech Republic, Vivo in Brazil and Movistar in Spain and Argentina. We certainly are interested to see how these tests will turn out as they might influence the way we will embrace 4G technologies next year. 2010 is the year when various carriers will heavily advertise their 4G networks and whether you choose LTE or WiMAX, one thing is certain, we're going to be looking at a whole new mobile experience in the near future.
